Mission & History
Our Mission
The mission of Rest Haven – York is to provide and promote quality care and rehabilitative services while respecting the rights and dignity of the individual.
Our History
Dr. Robert Evans founded Rest Haven – York in 1962, while serving as Head of Medical Education at York Hospital. Recognizing the need for long term care for physically and cognitively compromised individuals in the York area, he and several colleagues started the business.
Through the years there have been many additions, facelifts, and physical changes to the facility: but the basic philosophy for care has never changed. The primary focus continues to be providing quality care and rehabilitative services to the York community.
Excellent therapy services and attention to recovery from surgery, accident or an acute illness have always been the goals of Rest Haven – York. Dr. Evans supported the care model of integrating dementia residents into the general population. Meeting the individual needs of every resident, regardless of diagnosis, was, and still is, our first priority. At Rest Haven – York we remember our founder, Dr. Robert Evans, and we are proud that his vision and philosophy live on today.
